– Do not book Fly now – VG

STAY AWAY FROM FLYR: Jørn Stubberud (left) and Jan Axel von Blomberg didn’t book with Flyr when they went to Brazil.

GARDERMOEN (VG) The black metal band takes no chances when they go out for a concert.

In Gardermoen, VG meets Jørn Stubberud and Jan Axel von Blomberg, better known respectively as “Necrobutcher” and “Hellhammer”, bassist and drummer of the black metal band Mayhem.

Now they stay away from Flyr when they go to concerts.

Stay away Flyer

– That’s why it was in the paper yesterday. They are about to go bankrupt. So let’s stay away from it, Stubberud tells VG.

– I didn’t know anything about it. I don’t read newspapers and things like that, says colleague Blomberg.

When VG meets them in Gardermoen, they travel to Sao Paulo in Brazil to give a concert.

The Flyr company sought to raise NOK 430 million through a crisis issue, i.e. a capital increase. The company was unable to collect the money investors by 4.30pm today.

ROCKIN ‘AROUND THE WORLD: Mayhem as we are used to seeing them, with bassist Jørn Stubberud aka “Necrobutcher” on the far right.

Instead, the company has now received an offer for an alternative transaction from both existing and professional investors.

Stubberud and Blomberg take no chances when they are out and about.

– As soon as there is any uncertainty, go to a safer company instead. We travel a lot for work, so we can’t have nonsense, says Stubberud, who explains that they would prefer to book more expensive tickets if that makes them sure to get there.

For the record: Flyr has no flights to Brazil or outside of Europe.

They were satisfied customers

The band have used Flyr several times in the past and have been happy customers.

MANY TRAVEL: As one of the most famous black metal bands in the world, Mayhem travels a lot. Then they choose safe tickets, even if they have to pay a little more.

– They have nice things, three bags, a free central seat and things like that. But until “business” resumes, we stay away, says Stubberud.

– It’s a shame for Flyr, then, comments Blomberg, before the band has to go ahead and get on the plane.

Author and journalist Selma Lønning Aarø is located near Alicante in the holiday home she and her family have bought and are renovating.

I spent about 30,000 with Flyr

She will return to Norway with Flyr on Wednesday, but she is not worried if she will return home.

– I’ve already checked in on the plane. I am more concerned that I booked Christmas and Easter tickets for the whole family of five with Flyr. Also, I’m going on a trip with friends in March, Aarø tells VG on the phone from Spain.

FLYR FAN: Author Selma Lønning Aarø is a regular customer of Flyr. She plans to return home safely to Norway with the company tomorrow, but she’s worried about three trips with them she’s booked.

He estimates that he has spent around NOK 30,000 on airline tickets over the next period. None of the trips were booked with a credit card. This can make it more difficult to get the money back if Flyr goes bankrupt.

– Flyr offers a Vipps solution, which simplifies the payment. This is what I did, Aarø tells VG.

– If you paid by card, both debit and credit, you are entitled to a refund from the card issuer if the flight is canceled – for whatever reason, Iversen says and points out that it is stated in the card agreement you once signed, attorney Thomas Iversen told the Consumer Council to VG earlier today.

Big Flyr fan

Aarø is a huge fan of the airline, but will withdraw her credit card the next time she books a flight with them.

– It is very comfortable to travel with them. I hope they make it. I think they have good luggage conditions, good service and are welcoming, she believes.

FLY DEPENDENT: Northern Norway is dependent on flying planes, anesthetist Thomas Wilson notes when VG meets him in Gardermoen. Wilson works at UNN and they source specialist skills from different parts of the country.

Anesthetist Thomas Wilson is returning home to Tromsø when VG meets him in Gardermoen. His ticket is not with Flyr.

– For us in the north it is very important to move forward. We have few options for buses, so it’s not a real option. When flight services start to get unstable, it can potentially have a major impact on our daily lives, Wilson tells VG.

He says the Northern Norwegian University Hospital (UNN) in Tromsø depends on air routes to provide good and reliable service.

– Our employees, many doctors, pilots and rescuers come from out of town. Even though I live in Tromsø, there are many people with special education who don’t live in the north, she says.

CHEAP IS BETTER: Students Nora Sohlberg and Mats Engaas choose the cheapest option when “buying” airline tickets.

Nora Sohlberg and Mats Engaas are NTNU students. They are on their way to Trondheim when VG meets them in Gardermoen.

– It is mainly the price that matters when booking airline tickets, says Mats Engaas.

Both will book Flyr in the future, regardless of the crisis the company is in, as long as they have the cheapest tickets.
