Dormagen. The current situation in the Ukraine and the associated flow of refugees has prompted the DLRG Dormagen to get actively involved in refugee aid. “As an aid organization, it is our job to help people in need. It is therefore a matter of course for us to get involved here. Our volunteers will be ready to help people who are fleeing war and destruction as much as we can,” says Jörg Dittmar, deputy head of the DLRG Dormagen.

For this reason, the Dormagen water rescuers have offered their help to the crisis management team of the city of Dormagen. This offer of help was accepted within a very short time and as early as Thursday, 12 volunteers from the DLRG Dormagen were available at short notice to help with the preparations at the Christoph Rensing School. The central accommodation for around 250 refugees from the Ukraine is currently being built here. Together with other helpers, shelves were set up there that will serve as storage space for the clothing store in the future. Further dates for such work assignments will follow.

Just like on Friday (March 11, 2022): Further preparations are planned for the afternoon in the central accommodation for Ukrainian refugees. Beds and other furniture are set up here in order to prepare the accommodation for the refugees accordingly. The DLRG Dormagen will also be on site with over 10 helpers to help set up this accommodation.
