DKI Jakarta Health Service Ensures Readiness of Health Facilities to Handle Monkey Pox Cases

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The DKI Jakarta Health Service (Dinkes) ensures that all health facilities (faskes) spread across the capital city are ready to handle case patients monkeypox or monkey pox.

A number of health facilities include community health centers (puskesmas) to regional general hospitals (RSUD) in Jakarta.

“The health facilities to handle (monkeypox cases) are all ready,” said Acting Head of the DKI Jakarta Health Service Ani Ruspitawati when confirmed in Jakarta, Saturday (4/11/2023).

Ani said that there are 31 regional hospitals in Jakarta that can handle both treatment and isolation of monkey pox patients for free.

“Yes, it’s free. For 31 regional hospitals, we are able to carry out treatment and isolation for Mpox sufferers. For early detection, those who access the health centers, all health centers are able to diagnose if they suspect it is related to Mpox,” said Ani.

Ani said that people who are required to undergo self-isolation are people who are suspected of having cases of monkey pox.

“If there are symptoms we apply for isolation, if the house doesn’t allow isolation we provide a hospital,” said Ani.

For your information, the DKI Jakarta Health Service stated that cases of monkey pox or monkeypox in DKI Jakarta continue to increase every day.

Head of the Surveillance, Epidemiology and Immunization Section (Kasi) of the DKI Health Service (Dinkes) Ngabila Salama said that currently, there are 27 people who have tested positive for monkeypox.

“Update on the DKI Jakarta MPox Case. As of November 3 2023, there are 28 positive cases. One case has recovered,” said Ngabila.

Ngabila said that data on 27 patients who were confirmed positive for monkey pox was recorded from October and November 2023. Until now, the patients are still undergoing isolation.

He said that from the results of the examination, the patients were infected with monkey pox after previously engaging in sexual activity.

“All had mild symptoms. All were infected from sexual contact, all men aged 25-50 years. Apart from that, the total number of vaccination recipients was 495 people out of the target of 495 people,” said Ngabila.
