Djurgården recruits NHL-qualified back: “Will carry a lot of ice age”

Djurgården is looking with lights and lanterns for players who can help the team reverse the trend and ensure that they have secured the SHL contract when the season is summed up.

After Emil Berglund, Fredrik Forsberg and Dick Axelsson, sports director KG Stoppel has now landed his fourth signing since he took over from Joakim Eriksson.

A recruitment that thus became official on Friday morning.

Closest from games in the AHL with the Abbotsford Canucks joins the American defender Cameron Schilling.

– We have been looking for a full-back for a long time and with Cameron we get a solid two-way player. He has broad qualifications, has over time shown production going forward and has experience of strong figures in plus / minus – which has been important. In addition, it is a player who will be able to carry a lot of ice time, comments Djurgården’s acting sports director KG Stoppel.

33-year-old Schilling was noted for 13 points in 19 AHL games this season and has scored a total of 215 points in 594 games in the Grand Prix League. He has also assisted in ten NHL appearances, representing the Winnipeg Jets.

Schilling is expected to join next week and has signed a contract for the 2024 season.
