American DJ and music producer Erick Morillo has passed away at the age of 49. According to tabloid site ‘TMZ’, his body was found Tuesday morning at his home in Miami Beach, Florida. The cause of death is still unknown.

The artist became world famous with the hit ‘I like to move it’ from 1993. The song, which he released under the stage name Reel 2 Real, topped the charts worldwide for weeks. Later, the song became another hit when it was used in the animated movie Madagascar (2005).
Morillo has won the DJ Award for best house DJ three times and the prize for Best International DJ three times. The American was last awarded the prize in 2009.
The producer hit the headlines a few weeks ago when he was charged with sexual misconduct. According to AFP he should have appeared in court on Friday after a woman accused him of rape while sleeping.
