There is definitely nothing for people with a fear of heights: The newest attraction in New York is called “The Edge” and is located on the 100th floor of a skyscraper. It has been open for a few days – but the corona pandemic is already causing restrictions.
The pointed, glass platform rises like a beak “The Edge” for a few months from the 100th floor of the “30 Hudson Yards” skyscraper in New York. From now on, visitors are also allowed to visit the highest publicly accessible outdoor viewing terrace in the western world – according to the client.
“The Edge” offers a panoramic view over the whole of New York and into the neighboring state of New Jersey. Many of the tickets, which cost around 36 dollars (around 32 euros), were already sold out in advance.

For concerns about the further spread of the novel coronavirus, access should initially only be possible with “significantly reduced capacity,” said Jeff Blau, head of the operating company at the opening ceremony. “These are uncertain times, but we know New York is resilient.” At the start, a music band played and dancers abseiled down from the roof of the house.
Empire State Building leader so far
So far, the metropolis had three large viewing platforms for visitors: “One World Observatory” on the One World Trade Center, “Top of the Rock” on Rockefeller Center and the platforms of the Empire State Building. So far, most of the visitors have opted for the Empire State Building, but now “The Edge” also wants to get involved in this market.
The “One World Observatory” and the upper platform of the Empire State Building are higher than “The Edge”, but have no outside area. The new platform is “unlike anything New York has seen so far,” said the head of the operating company. “It is sure to become one of the most popular places in New York City.”
