Dividends jump to $ 1.25 billion on the Egyptian Stock Exchange

The Egyptian Stock Exchange’s weekly report uncovered that total cash dividends distributions of companies listed on the Egyptian Stock Exchange rose to 19.6 billion pounds (1.25 billion dollars) since the beginning of this year until the end of last week’s transactions.

The report indicated that the listed companies distributed profits amounting to about 1.6 billion pounds (100 million dollars) during the current month of October, 135 million pounds during last September, and 433 million pounds during the month of August.

The companies also distributed profits amounting to about 2.774 billion pounds during the month of July, compared to about 299 million pounds during the month of June. In May, the companies distributed profits amounting to about 487 million pounds, and 13.518 billion pounds during the month of April.

In March, dividends amounted to about 206 million pounds, compared to about 45 million pounds in February, and 83 million pounds in last January.

With regard to the most active sectors in the Egyptian Stock Exchange, the report revealed that the real estate sector led the way, ranking the traded sectors in terms of trading value during last week’s sessions, after recording a circulation of 365.5 million papers worth 1.2 billion pounds.

The non-bank financial services sector came in second place with a circulation volume of 421.7 million papers, valued at 633.8 million pounds, and the food, beverage and tobacco sector came in third with a circulation volume of 105.8 million papers valued at 596.2 million pounds.

The Basic Resources Sector came in fourth place with a volume of 88.9 million papers valued at 452.2 million pounds, followed by the textile and durable goods sector with a circulation volume of 150.2 million papers valued at 375.2 million pounds.

The banking sector came in sixth place with a circulation volume of 13.2 million executed papers worth 323.6 million pounds, followed by the services sector, industrial products and cars in seventh place with a circulation volume of 93.8 million executed papers valued at 317.3 million pounds.

The tourism and entertainment sector came in eighth place, with a circulation volume of 41.9 million executed papers worth 228.1 million pounds, followed by the health care and medicine sector in ninth place with a circulation of 127.1 million papers worth 226.8 million pounds. The building materials sector came in tenth place with a circulation of 46.8 million executed papers worth 187 million pounds.
