Kim Yong, former vice president of the Institute for Democracy, who was put on trial for receiving illegal presidential election funds, raised another question about the credibility of the statement by former head of Seongnam Urban Development Corporation, Yoo Dong-gyu, that he had received a request for money.

At the trial held today as part of the 23rd trial of the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Agreement, Deputy Director Kim Yong-gyu focused on asking former head Yoo Dong-gyu, who appeared as a witness, when he demanded 2 billion won from the Daejang-dong gang for the presidential election.

When former Headquarters Director Yoo replied to the effect that he remembered that it was between February and May 2020, Vice President Yong Kim pointed out that “Lee Jae-myeong, the Democratic Party’s representative, was waiting for the Supreme Court ruling at the time, so it was not a situation to think about the primary.” Again, he said, “Although the Supreme Court ruling has not come out, I prepared for it believing that it would work well enough.”

The judge also said, “Before the Supreme Court ruling in July 2020, I don’t think there will be an opportunity to talk about the presidential election funds.”

Representative Lee Jae-myung was sentenced to a fine of 3 million won, depriving him of the right to vote for five years in the second trial in 2019 for violating the election law. That’s what the judge pointed out.

The judge added, “The court will make a judgment on the reliability later.”

The two sides also argued about not remembering the exact date when Yoo received the cash from Nam-wook and delivered it to former vice-president Kim Yong.

When former vice-president Kim Yong pointed out, “The date of receiving the money and delivering it is said to be late April or early May, but it is a very generous memory,” former general manager Yoo responded, “Do you remember the date you played golf a year ago?” The former vice-president criticized again, saying, “The testimony is specific, but I can’t remember the date.”
