Disney + acquired 70 million new customers in 11 months

In its last earnings report Disney + shows that they now have more than 103 million paying customers worldwide.

Massive growth

This means that the company has grown by over 70 million customers in 11 months, and over 3 million of these have become customers since March. In April last year, Disney + had 33 million customers, so the growth has in other words been massive, and they have shattered their own goals of reaching 60-90 million customers by 2024.

As they already last year exceeded their long-term goal, the figures are now updated, the goal of Disney + is to reach 230-260 million paying customers by 2024, if they reach this goal they will be bigger than Netflix is currently with its 207 million paying .

There are many services vying for customers, but Disney seems to be positioning Disney + for an astronomical growth going forward.

Wins on content

Disney + came at the same time as Apple TV + was launched, but has grown much faster thanks to its large catalog of content from Disney, Marvel and Star Wars. The wide catalog is not the only thing Disney + brought into the power war, they have also produced new content such as “Mandalorian”, “WandaVision” and “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”.

They also have hairy goals when it comes to content production, among other things, they have set the goal of getting over 100 new titles in place every year, in everything from Disney Animation, Disney Live Action, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic. Disney is also investing heavily in expansions into other arenas with deals for sports via ESPN and ESPN +.
