Dismissed Russian General Reveals Truth on Frontline, Amid Ambiguity of General Surovikin’s Fate

A Russian general said that he was dismissed from his position after he informed his military leadership of what he described as “the truth on the front”, and this came after new information about General Sergey Surovikin, after the ambiguity of his fate.

On Thursday, Reuters reported an audio message attributed to General Ivan Popov, in which he stated that he had informed his commanders in the Russian army of the reality of the situation on the front in the Ukraine war, but that these leaders did not like that fact.

He added that he was dismissed from his position in the army, which is the command of Unit No. 58 in the Ground Forces, which has a strength of 2,500 soldiers.

This unit is fighting in southern Ukraine.

Popov accused the army leadership of stabbing soldiers in the back in the darkest of circumstances.

He complained about the lack of capabilities available to his soldiers, including anti-missile and artillery pieces, indicating that they are being killed in large numbers by Ukrainian fire.

He stated that there are other problems that he cannot talk about.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has not yet commented on this news.

different general

Earlier news reports reported that a Russian general who commanded operations in the Ukraine war at one stage disappeared with the Wagner private military group’s rebellion last month, stating that he is currently resting.

A Russian official said General Sergei Surovikin is currently resting and “no longer available”.

This general has not been seen in public since the brief rebellion carried out by the Wagner Group.

Surovikin went into hiding after appearing in a video clip pleading with the head of the group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, to end the rebellion.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov refused at the time to comment on Surovikin’s fate.

And Russian media asked Andrei Kartapolov, a retired general who leads the Defense Affairs Committee in the lower chamber of the Russian parliament, the Duma, about the general who is hiding from sight.

The question was: “Are you communicating with General Surovikin?” His answer was: “No. He is resting and not available now.”

And there were reports of a close relationship between Surovikin and Prigozhin.
