Discover the Dolce Vita in Montluçon: Aria d’Italia Association Transmits Italian Culture

“You can’t do Italian without eating and drinking,” smiles Marie-Sylvie Boiteux, president of the Franco-Italian Association Aria d’Italia.

With sparkling eyes, the Italian teacher talks about her love for the Boot. “I’m totally addicted. My husband says that this association is my little Italy. My way of bringing it here, because I can’t go there all the time.”

The association, created in 1987 by immigrants who wanted to find themselves, has evolved significantly in thirty-six years. “Today, we have 70 members, as many of Italian origin as people who want to discover the culture.”

To satisfy everyone, Aria d’Italia offers a wide range of activities throughout the year. Of course, “Italian festivals”. On January 6, the Befana, a folkloric figure who passes through each house where children live the night before Epiphany. Or Republic Day, June 2.

Travel, cooking, dancing…

“We organize at least two trips per year, the last one was Venice,” says the president. Next planned destination: Genoa, in 2024. Shipping at reduced prices for members, “but open to all”.

Throughout the year, the Franco-Italian Association punctuates the months with various events. Cooking, dancing, shows, hiking… “We also do evenings in partnership with the Le Palace cinema.” Evenings for all audiences, offering films in the original version, with French subtitles for novices.

Finally, the association offers Italian courses for adults. “It’s a whole thing, you can’t be interested in the language without knowing the culture.”

Next event, open to all: a board games afternoon, in collaboration with Accrojeux de Néris-les-Bains, on November 18, at the Hibiscus room, rue des Grands-Prés, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
