I don’t know if you have ever sat next to a colleague while you are both in the same teams call? A latency of 1-2 sec is more the rule than the exception.
With Discord, that latency is at most 0.5 sec. You can hear it, but it’s minimal.
Same with teamspeak, or ventrilo, for example, with which you are very dependent on the (re)encoding speed of the server, plus the latency to the server itself.
Latency of 1-2 sec in a game like mw2 makes quite a difference and can be just that difference when you see someone (s) coming.
