Marvel’s newest superhero team Eternals is experiencing anything but a dream debut. The fans don’t seem to embrace the Marvel movie.
The film previously received disappointing ratings on Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB. Now has Eternals also received a “B” as CinemaScore.
Lowest to date
The CinemaScore is determined through surveys of the audience that visits the film on the public premiere evening. The outcome is often seen as a good first indicator of how the audience feels about a film.
B’s CinemaScore is the lowest for Marvel to date. Less popular Marvel movies like Thor on The Incredible Hulk previously received CinemaScores from B+. All other films within the MCU were rated A- or higher.
The box office revenue of Eternals is still fine during a pandemic. But the audience score will be a bit disappointing for Marvel. Perhaps the public finds it a bit unbelievable that The Eternals did not show themselves in the fight against Thanos.
