Disabled workers from Montluçon (Allier) make the leap to an adapted company

“The Esat is not an end in itself,” said Sabine Popieul, head of the labor sector of Unapei Pays d’Allier, at the assembly. Thanks to the integration center of the association, Angélique, Nicolas and Kevin, previously employees of the Esat rive-gauche, were able to sign, on April 28, a permanent contract in the adapted company APM.

This laundry, which welcomes more than 70% of employees with an RQTH (recognition of the quality of disabled workers), recruits them for three different positions.

“It is important to show the evolution. We are capable of moving forward,” Angélique intervenes. Hired in the laundry, the young woman, 30, has been leading company days for three years now. “Angélique has found her place within the team, she brings dynamism. She has even become the spokesperson when there are complaints, ”rejoices Christophe Teyssandier, the general manager of Unapei Pays d’Allier. Kevin was a welder at Esat Rive Gauche, today he does wiring, PVC and even stainless steel.

Kevin was a welder at Esat Rive Gauche. After a year of support from the integration center, he has already signed a CDI in the company, to the chagrin of his former trainers: “Kevin is a very good element. He works well. We’re super proud of him but… how are we going to do without him at the workshop? smiles Patrick Durand, trainer at Esat.

Benefits for businesses

Meticulous, Nicolas, 34 years old, today makes cabling or even PVC or stainless steel plates for the APM company. A desire to do well often highly appreciated by companies. “The advantage of having worked in Esat is that we insist a lot on the rules. When they arrive in traditional companies, they have already assimilated respect for hierarchy and the importance of doing their job correctly. This is not always the case for traditional employees, ”says Olivier Ducrot, in charge of integration.

Accompanied by a psychologist for mental preparation and a specialist educator for administrative support, Olivier Ducrot is in charge of prospecting and support. “We also support businesses. We even offer a very short reception training. Our goal is to de-dramatize situations. Make them understand that a disabled worker can be an asset rather than a constraint. » Nicolas was hired as a delivery driver at the laundry.

A long-term work necessary to “change the way people look. »
Nicolas was thus supported for 3 years, through various companies, before finding his place as a delivery driver at APM. “But we don’t let them go as soon as it’s signed!” We continue to provide individualized follow-up, because the disability does not disappear overnight,” explains Olivier Ducrot.

Reassuring for companies, this long-term follow-up also reassures employees: “Some ask us if they can continue psychological follow-up, obviously we support them in their wishes. It just keeps little problems from escalating. »

dreams of inclusion

The three new laundry employees take advantage of this opportunity. “We do more varied tasks. I don’t like to do nothing, even if sometimes I want to sit down! laughs Angelique. “It’s an opportunity to show that we have our place, like the others! »

Precursors, Angélique, Nicolas and Kevin are part of the fifteen disabled workers who benefit from the integration center. After them, another employee is about to sign a contract with the green spaces department of Moulins. A job in the kitchens of the gendarmerie school is also on the way.

Projects that follow the hopes of integration and inclusion carried by the integration center of Unapei Pays d’Allier.
