When DiRT 5 plays it TrackMania x Tony Hawk
The community will be celebrating for the next installment of the DiRT series. The next opus, scheduled for October, has concocted a Playgrounds mode designed for online. Future players will be grappling with an archi-complete circuit editor, similar to what can be found on the TrackMania series. The latter can be configured according to three types of races: Gate Crasher, Gymkhana and Smash Attack which we have described below. For our preview, two sets were usable in the background, on a slippery earth / sand surface, one in a desert and the other in a stadium. The three possibilities offer real variety and undoubtedly a good dose of fun once the servers are open in the quest for leaderboards. We obviously cross our fingers for live competitions with opposing ghosts. Note that for greater fairness, the car used will be the same for all participants.
- Gate Crasher mode, clearly similar to the classic TrackMania races. Several checkpoints are scattered along the track, the key is to cross them before the arrival checkpoint, regardless of the direction and regardless of the order as quickly as possible.
- And Gymkhana mode, more inclined to precision than to speed. Indeed, it is about achieving the most points in a limited time, by performing many tricks. Donuts, drifts, breaking blocks, jumps or going under narrow bridges, everything is good to beat the high score in some open maps. It is therefore also necessary to find the best way to optimize its balance sheet.
- Le mode Smash Attack. In the process of optimization, we have not had the opportunity to test it, but it turns out to be nice in its originality. Indeed, it will be an open or linear race, with the need to avoid certain red items which give a time penalty, and to touch a green item to close the course.
