Director Attema about major CCI Candy fire in Drachten: production lines probably spared

The big fire that struck CCI Candy candy factory in Drachten last night, reduced approximately 40 percent to ashes. This is what director Alfred Attema says.

“We think that about 60 percent of the complex has been spared, including the production lines. There is of course smoke damage. We will make an inventory of them later. ”

Attema is very pleased with the night shift that discovered the fire. “The employees acted very adequately and were able to guide the fire brigade to the place where the fire started using maps. That was probably the warehouse. Their actions enabled the fire service to work well. ”“ The factory is 29,000 square meters in size. Nobody was hurt.

There was little stock in the warehouse. “Our stocks are stored externally,” explains Attema. The factory produces gums, jellies, dragées, sugar-free, vegetarian and vegan candies.

CCI Candy in Drachten employs 140 people. Most were already informed about the fire last night. “They don’t have to come today.”

The company in Drachten is the headquarters of The European Candy Group. It has three other factories, in Oosterwolde, Hoorn and Metelen. “If necessary, those factories can help out.”
