Florence is an absolute must as a destination for a city trip and if you can stay in the historic heart, that makes the experience even more special. This apartment is located around the corner from the Basilica of San Lorenzo and at the entrance of the Capelle Medici. The entire area breathes history and that also applies to the interior of the duplex apartment. It is beautifully decorated with carefully restored frescoes and murals that give each room a unique character. But that’s not the only reference to the past. The floors, tapestries and books are also several centuries old.
You dine at a Louis XIV dining table with chairs from the 17th century, under the light of a chandelier made of Murano glass. In the bedroom there is an alcove where Pope Clement VIII slept more than 300 years ago.
Within that authentic framework, modern comfort also had to be introduced and that succeeded successfully in the bathrooms, only in the kitchen it could have been better. But don’t let that spoil the fun, because when you close the doors you won’t see anything of that intervention.
