“Dinamo” concludes probation contracts with Mayonna and Krastenberg – Hockey

The continental hockey league (KHL) unit of Riga “Dinamo” has signed probation agreements with Matthew Mayon and Renārs Krastenbergs, the club reports on Monday.

Last year, the 29-year-old Canadian defender Majone represented three KHL teams – Beijing Red Star, Minsk Dinamo and Riga Dinamo. The hockey player was also a member of Riga “Dinamo” in the 2018/2019 season. In two seasons, together with “Dinamo”, the defender has played 62 games, in which he has accumulated 47 (11 + 36) performance points. In total, KHL gave him 50 (11 + 39) performance points, 36 penalty minutes and a +/- score of -19 in 81 matches.

Prior to that, the hockey player played in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL), Slovakia and Finland.

21-year-old forward Renārs Krastenbergs went to North America in 2015 after starting his hockey career in the “Riga” team, where he fought in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and ECHL, representing Willing’s “Nailers”. The ECHL striker scored 74 points (32 + 42) in 114 games.

The first game of the new season “Dinamo” will be played on September 3 with a game against Nursultan “Baris”, entering a series of four home matches.

On July 20, Latvian specialist Pēteris Skudra was appointed as the head coach of “Dinamo”, but he will be assisted by the head coach of the Russian Youth Hockey League (MHL) team “Rīga” last season Raimonds Vilkoits and his assistant Aleksandrs Ņiživijs.

Last season, Dinamo took the penultimate place in the Western Conference and in the entire league, not qualifying for the Gagarin Cup for the sixth year in a row.

KHL’s new season is scheduled to start on September 2.
