This Tuesday, May 5, many French people turned on their television sets and sat comfortably in front of the TF1 channel to enjoy the replay of the film Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The fourth part of the saga reacted on social networks, including Twitter (the selection of the best tweets can be found right there). A film which has a particularly annoying cut scene, discovered thanks to the DVD release of the film. But do you know her?
An inglorious scene
In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Hogwarts hosts the “tournament of the three wizards”, a prestigious competition during which a representative of each school will have to shine through a series of dangerous, even deadly tests. Hogwarts will send two of its most valiant students, including our beloved Harry Potter. At the start of the film, the other great schools of magic in the wizarding world introduce themselves when they arrive at Hogwarts and illustrate themselves through colorful scenes. The witches of Beauxbatons use their grace and charm when the students of Durmstrang present a fiery spectacle.
But one school is missing: Hogwarts. Host of the ceremony, the students are only ordinary spectators in the final version of the film. However, their welcome is not normally limited to vulgar applause and astonished faces. In fact, in a cut version, we discover the initial welcome provided by the Hogwarts students. Led by a Dumbledore who has become a conductor, they push the song, through music well known in the wizarding world. Problem, the scene is not particularly successful and the students at Hogwarts offer a show far below that of other schools. A song that makes the scene more embarrassing than anything else.

Fortunately, this scene was cut during the editing and does not appear in the final version of the film. However, the scene in question can be viewed freely on the web, and even on certain television channels. The SyFy channel recently rebroadcasted Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the long version including the cut scenes during the editing. Some spectators then discovered, for the first time, a cut scene which did not necessarily deserve to be preserved in the final version of the film.
