Qatar Labor Minister Ali Bin Semih Al Marri said, “Have you boycotted any World Cup organizations yet?” he said.

Al Marri answered questions from lawmakers in the European Parliament’s human rights subcommittee on “sports organizations and human rights” ahead of the World Cup to be hosted by his country.

Responding to boycott calls launched by some politicians and human rights organizations in European countries to boycott Qatar on human rights grounds, Al Marri said, “I would like to ask those who have called for a boycott. Have you boycotted any organization in the Cup of the World first? Why is it now held only in Qatar? Are you focusing on the organization? Did you see what was done before, for example, in 2018?” he said.

Al Marri said some of the lawmakers had spoken out about different sexual orientations and said, “We don’t judge anyone’s tendencies. I just want to say this. Each of you will be welcome in Qatar. This is an instruction given at the highest level.” in Qatar.” she used the phrase.

Responding to allegations that some workers working in Qatar were sent out of the country before the World Cup and were victimized, Al Marri said, “There is a mechanism that anyone offended by reparations can apply to remedy their grievances. An established fund has been set up for compensation, and there is no such large fund in our region. So far, the workers have been paid $350 million.” he said she.

Al Marri said the allegations about his country may have been caused by lack of communication and said the information should be obtained from the right source.

Inviting everyone to watch the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Al Marri said, “The World Cup in Qatar will be the best event in the history of football.” he said.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup, hosted by Qatar, will kick off on November 20. Qatar will be the first Arab country in the Middle East to host this event.

Ahead of the event, some politicians and human rights defenders in European countries called for a boycott of the football event, accusing it of human rights abuses in Qatar.
