And when it comes to healthy food, the numbers don’t lie. For children up to the age of four this is not too bad, but the figures of overweight in children from the age of five are rising and for children aged ten this is even more frightening. “The figures have even doubled among ten-year-olds. One in three is overweight. I’m talking about slightly and severely overweight. This is the same as the national average,” she explains. “It’s not just eating cookies at school. There is a large unhealthy selection at home, but also in the sports canteen. And there are still unhealthy treats. Children are inundated with them,” says Capello.

Capello admits she can be stern at times, but she has a goal and hopes Wednesday’s meeting will help with that. “I’ve been working with young children for over 30 years. When I started I noticed that there were very few overweight children. I’ve seen that grow at an alarming rate. I want children to be healthy, to feel good and to be fit,” says the youth nurse.
