“Diamond” stolen from Diomedes Díaz’s sculpture

The citizens and inhabitants of the Vallenato capital rejected the act of vandalism that occurred a few days ago, after it was stolen, of the statue of the Cacique, the piece that served as the “diamante” that the artist had in one of his teeth.

Diomedes Díaz’s chair is the sculpture located in the Cesar, where hundreds of tourists want to pose with one of the memories of the great vallenato artist.

The murano stone, the one that had Diomedes Diaz inscribed in one of his teeth was the one that was vandalized and brought to memory the year 2017, when the sculpture in honor of the vallenato minstrel was established and where the medal of the Virgin of Carmen.

This act also recalled that in recent days the sculpture in honor of the Colombian artist Ivan villazon She was also vandalized, after unscrupulous took three fingers from her right hand.

The mayor’s office hopes that take much stricter measures that seek to protect these assets that enrich Valledupar for tourism and that manage to be a tribute to those influential artists in Colombian music.

It is worth noting that this sculpture was inaugurated on the occasion of the 60 years of the birth of Cacique of La Junta.

A year later, in the 2018, was subjected to a restoration process as it showed deterioration in elements such as the hands, boots and mouth.

It was financed by the mayor of Valledupar and it had a cost of 40 million pesos. He was part of an intervention project that sought to recover a sector of the territory, specifically the roundabout adjacent to the Hurtado Spa.
