DHF Cases in Tangerang Regency Drop

Tangerang: The Tangerang District Health Office (Dinkes) recorded 350 cases of spreading dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in the period January-October 2021. The spread of the disease tends to decrease, when compared to the previous year which reached more than 1,000 cases.

“This year’s DHF cases have decreased compared to the previous year, which could reach 800 to 1,000 DHF cases in the same period,” said Head of Disease Prevention and Control at the Tangerang District Health Office, Hendra Tarmizi, Tuesday, November 16, 2021.

Hendra said the decline could not be used as a benchmark as a positive thing. The reason is, during the COVID-19 pandemic, it is feared that there are still many cases of dengue that are not detected.

“Alhamdulillah, from 350 cases of dengue fever per January to October 2021, no one died, all of them were undergoing treatment,” he explained.

According to him, the highest dengue case findings in Tangerang Regency were in 4 sub-districts. Among them are Panongan, Curug, Kelapa Dua, and Pasar Kemis sub-districts.

Nevertheless, Hendra ensured that he had made prevention efforts by increasing the role of the community in eradicating mosquito nests. Including 3M’s activities, namely draining, cleaning, and closing places that are used as breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

“Efforts to deal with dengue cases have also distributed circulars to all sub-districts and hospitals regarding dengue vigilance. Each health center has been ordered to disseminate information to RT/RW for the implementation of 3M,” he explained.

Hendra appealed to the people of Tangerang Regency to remain vigilant against dengue cases, when entering the rainy season.

“The public is asked to remain vigilant, in addition to preventing the spread of the corona virus, they must also be aware of dengue,” he said.
