DHF Cases in Sukoharjo Increase: 164 People Infect, 9 Died

SUKOHARJO – Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) threatens Sukoharjo ahead of the rainy season. As of this week, the number of deaths from the disease carried by the Aedes aegypti mosquito has risen to nine. Last week, one person died.

Head of the Sukoharjo Health Office, Yunia Wahdiyati, said that until the 40th week of this year, at least 164 people had tested positive for dengue. Of that number, nine died.

“This 40th week, one additional person died, from Sukoharjo District, the city,” said Yunia Wahdiyati, Sunday (24/10).

According to Yunia, this week’s dengue cases decreased from the previous week, but now if you see the rain is starting to fall, you have to be careful. In particular, they must maintain the condition of the body by carrying out the movement for healthy living and clean living behavior in order to control infectious diseases.

“In the 39th week there were seven cases, while the 40th week there were three cases, one of which died,” he said.

Yunia admitted that she had deployed mosquito larvae monitoring, namely cadres and larvae monitoring communities in high-risk areas. In addition, the use of appropriate technology by installing ovitap (mosquito egg trap) from used goods to reduce the mosquito population.

“There are three DBDB endemic districts. Namely, Kartasura, Grogol, and Sukoharjo cities,” he explained.

Yunia admits the mindset of the Sukoharjo community is still there fogging minded. If there is a case you want to do it immediately fogging in his environment. Even though, fogging done carelessly.

“Even though fogging it has conditions and is selective. Don’t ask a little fogging, ”Cut Yunia.

Yunia said that the reason for being selective was because the drugs used for fogging can cause the impact of resistance to mosquitoes and harm the environment. Because the dose of the drug is high.

“If we spray mosquitoes in the house, residents must leave the house first. Especially fogging wider impact,” he said.

What should be done is actually to eradicate mosquito nests. Namely draining the bathtub, burying used bottles and cleaning the environment so that mosquitoes do not breed. Whereas fogging, only kills adult mosquitoes. While the mosquito larvae do not die.

“If the larvae become adults, they will be immune to situations that are oftenfogging. This is why fogging not always the first choice for mosquito eradication. PSN is important,” said Yunia.

Yunia also warned the public not to be tempted by fogging independent from the private sector. It must be ensured that the cases in the environment are indeed cases of DB from the official statement of the hospital.

The Head of Sukoharjo Sub-district, Havid Danang PW, confirmed that one of his residents from Bulakrejo Village died of dengue fever. For this incident, his party has mobilized a jumantik (a larva monitor).

“We have deployed the Jumantik. There is a jumantik per RT,” said Havid.

Havid added, this week the people of Sukoharjo city have started promoting PSN. Especially in densely populated villages. This is to prevent dengue cases from happening again to claim lives. (kwl / bun / dam)
