DHF again claimed the life of a child in Sikka – ANTARA News Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara – ANTARA News East Nusa Tenggara

Kupang (ANTARA) – The Sikka District Health Office, East Nusa Tenggara said that dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) has again claimed the life of a nine-year-old child in Maumere City.

“It is true that one child has died and now Sikka Regency has increased to two victims of DHF,” said Head of Sikka Regency Health Office Petrus Herlemus when contacted from Kupang, Tuesday (5/4).

He said the nine-year-old child who was still in elementary school was known to be late being referred to the TC Hillers Hospital after undergoing an examination at a clinic in Maumere City.

The doctor who worked at the clinic where the patient underwent an examination on Thursday (31/3) had asked the patient’s parents to immediately take him from the clinic to TC Hillers Hospital.

“However, the patient’s parents did not heed it, so the next Friday he was brought to the TC Hillers Hospital,” he added.

When he arrived at the ER, TC Hillers Hospital, the patient’s blood was immediately taken and laboratory tests were carried out and it was discovered that the boy had DHF.

During the process of traveling to the location of the TC Hillers Hospital itself, the patient was known to have experienced “hematemesis” or vomiting blood and was getting worse.

The patient also complains of shortness of breath and has been eating and drinking because his stomach feels bloated and painful.

With this incident, the Sikka Regency government appealed to its citizens not to be late in checking their child to the puskesmas or hospital if the child had a high fever.
