The first main round of this year’s DFB Cup is over – at least almost.
With the exception of the two duels Prussia Münster against Bayern (September 26) and Wehen Wiesbaden against RB Leipzig (September 27), all winners of the first round have been determined.

“The cup has its own laws” …
This was shown again this year. Regional league club FC 08 Homburg beat new Bundesliga signing Darmstadt 3-0. After the big promotion celebrations this summer, the start of the season should depress the mood in Darmstadt a bit.
Two other major cup surprises are the Viktoria Cologne victory against Bundesliga side Werder Bremen and Unterhaching’s 2-0 win over Augsburg. Both third division clubs have kicked their Bundesliga opponents out of the cup. Were these the last surprises of this cup season?
Bayern & Leipzig play in September
During the 1st cup round had Bayern and RB in the Supercup ran. Leipzig won the summit 3-0. The clubs will play their respective DFB Cup games on 26./27. September after.
What’s next in the DFB Cup?
After this cup weekend fans can hardly wait. The 2nd round will be played on October 31st and November 1st. The draw takes place a month beforehand, on October 1st. The draw will be broadcast live on ARD!
