DFB Cup draw: Which underdogs are there and which crackers are in it

Dortmund – Big task for two big ones! In addition to the new DFB President Bernd Neuendorf (60), world champion Kevin Großkreutz (33) will also start the 1st round of the German Football Museum this Sunday (7.15 p.m. / ARD). DFB Cup trigger. At best, there will be several derbies!

18 Bundesliga teams, 18 second division teams and the four best-placed third division teams from the previous season (1st FC Magdeburg, Eintracht Braunschweig, 1st FC Kaiserslautern, TSV 1860 Munich): These teams from the past season will certainly be taking part in the first main round in the coming season.
There are also 21 state cup winners and one additional starting place each for the state associations with the most members, Bavaria, Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia.

Draw mode in the 1st main round of the DFB Cup 2022/23
There will be two pots – the so-called amateur pot and the professional pot. The latter contains the 18 Bundesliga teams from the previous season and the teams that finished 1st to 14th in the 2nd Bundesliga.
Alternately, the home team from the amateur pot is first drawn to the guest team from the professional pot.
In the 1st round there can therefore be no Bundesliga duel, but one from the 2nd Bundesliga. For the most part, however, the clubs from the professional pot compete with a lower-class opponent.

Are there (several) city derbies?
The chance is really small, but it is at least possible that there will be one or the other city derby.
Among other things, both HSV and St. Pauli could be drawn to the Hamburg club Teutonia Ottensen. Bremen could look forward to BSV against Werder, in the capital the duel Viktoria Berlin against Hertha or Union is possible, in Munich the encounter 1860 against Bayern.
And also in Cologne (Viktoria against 1. FC) and Mainz (Schott against 1. FSV) one is looking forward to possible crackers.
