DeWALT Grand Prix: Finnish Pilot Salonen Takes Pole Position in Baltic Highway Championship’s Porsche GT3 Cup

The “DeWALT Grand Prix” competition of the second stage of the Baltic highway championship was opened on Friday, June 9, with practice and qualifying races. In the prestigious “Porsche GT3 Cup” with a new track record of 1:17.539, Finnish pilot Matias Salonen won the first starting place.

The second place went to domestic pilot Valters Zviedris, who lost only three tenths of a second in the fastest lap. The experience of his home track helped Valters Zviedris to show competitive lap times right from the first practice, and this was also done in the qualifying race – the second starting place provides great opportunities to fight for victory tomorrow in the presence of his spectators.

In the “BMW 325 Cup” class, the qualification races are already full of intrigue. If the Lithuanians Julius Kirsis and Aurim Mishtauts were the fastest in the first qualifying group, then in the second qualifying group the Frenchman Leo Messenger showed the fastest time – 1:33.823. The fastest of the Latvians is Uldis Timaks, who will start the race from the third starting place. Championship leader Richards Shubeckis will start fifth, while “LV Racing” pilot Mārtiņš Lapiņš will take 10th place. A total of 38 cars will take part in the “BMW 325 Cup” class.

In the “V1600” class, the first starting place went to the Latvian Ernests Eglītis, the second was Kaspars Rudmiezis, and the third was Raivis Meiland.

In the powerful GT class, the fastest Lithuanian Igns Jomants with the exclusive “Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo”, leaving the Finnish pilot Jirki Peltola in second place with the no less exciting “Chevrolet Corvette”. Artūrs Šimins second fastest in BTC4 class, 0.055 seconds behind the leader.

In the BTC1 class the fastest Lithuanian Dāvīds Akstins, in the BTC2 class the Estonian Simo Linds, and in the BTC3 class another Lithuanian pilot Arturs Kliobavičs.

The first race starts on Saturday, June 10, at 10 a.m.
