Developed battery that can charge in 8 minutes and last 68 years

A thin long-lived battery was developed by Polish scientists and is preparing a pilot project for its release.

It looks like the company The Batteries from Rzeszow is ready to revolutionize the mobile battery market and start the production of a thin-film battery with the ability to charge in just 8 minutes, writes makeway. The company received funding from the EU and patented its vacuum evaporation technology enhanced by high density plasma. These processes are not commonly used in mass production.

The thin-film technology, which is planned for the production of revolutionary batteries, allows the material to be deposited in crystalline form, eliminating any additional chemical compounds. This almost doubles the density of the battery, reaching 1200 Wh/L. In addition, batteries created using this technology have a large number of charge cycles, reaching 25 thousand times, which is 10-15 times more than in a conventional lithium-ion battery. This means that if, for example, a thin-film battery is discharged and charged every day, then its service life will be enough for more than 68 years.

But do not forget about the record charge speed, which is only 8 minutes. In addition, batteries from The Batteries project, according to the developers, are able to withstand a wide temperature range: from -40⁰C to 170⁰C, i.е. do not lose capacity in the cold and do not explode in the heat. The ability to withstand high temperatures allows for SMD printing or soldering tools.

At the moment, The Batteries is going to build a pilot plant near Rzeszow, where it will assemble its miracle batteries. The plant will have a capacity of more than 1 MW per year, which will allow the production of tens of thousands of batteries.

Previously Focus talked about iron-air batteries, which are 10 times cheaper than lithium and the fact that a plant for their production is already being built.
