Details of the national campaign to vaccinate against polio .. launch next month

The Ministry of Health and Population launches the national campaign to vaccinate against poliomyelitis for Egyptians and non-Egyptians “residing on the land of Egypt” from the age of one day until 5 years for free for a period of 4 days, during the period from Sunday, February 16, 2020 until Wednesday February 19, 2020.

The seventh day “will review in my information analysis the campaign details and its mechanisms of operation during the period in which it will be launched:

1The campaign will be launched from February 16 to 19 in all parts of the Republic .

2All vaccinations for Egyptian and foreign children for free The campaign targets approximately 16.5 million children.

3Vaccination in the countryside will take place from home to home to reach all targeted children.

4- In cities, vaccination is carried out by mobile teams in the streets, with fixed teams in health centers, health offices, rural units, and maternal and child care centers, until five o’clock in the evening..

5- Constant teams will be placed next to mosques, churches, clubs, markets, train stations and subway stations, travel car parks and public parks.

6- Providing more than 3,300 cars to transport vaccination teams to their locations throughout the 4 days.

7- The campaign activities are monitored daily from the central room in the Ministry’s preventive affairs.

8- The campaign aims to raise the immune status of children under five years and to raise immunity among non-Egyptian children from countries with poliovirus transmission, in order to continue to keep Egypt free from disease.

9- All vaccinations are in line with international standards to protect the health of citizens.

And Dr. Alaa Eid, Head of Preventive Medicine Sector, has confirmed that more than 3,300 cars will be provided to transport vaccination teams to their locations throughout the 4 days, and an evening meeting is held for all supervisors at the central level in the ministry with supervisors of health affairs directorates to review the campaign’s activities daily, noting That the ministry coordinated the participation and cooperation of all local community leaders and governmental and non-governmental bodies, pointing out that the campaign will be followed up daily from the central room in the Ministry’s preventive affairs.

Eid stated that the last polio case was registered in Egypt in 2004, and the World Health Organization announced that Egypt is free of the disease in 2006, and despite this the Ministry of Health and Population implements annual national campaigns to raise the immune status of children under five years and to raise Immunity among non-Egyptian children from countries with poliovirus transmission, in order to keep Egypt free from disease.
