Freddy Widjaja, the biological son of the founder Sinar Mas Group Eka Tjipta Widjaja suing the inheritance rights of his late father. The lawsuit he filed against his five stepbrothers in Court Negeri Jakarta Pusat.
In total, the value of disputed company assets reached Rp672.61 trillion.
The lawsuit was registered under case number 301 / Pdt.G / 2020 / PN Jkt and addressed to Indra Widjaja, Teguh Ganda Widjaja, Muktar Widjaja, Djafar Widjaja, and Franky Oesman Widjaja.
Here is a list of heritage properties he is trying to seize:
First, assets of PT Sinar Mas Agro Resources and Technology Tbk or SMART worth Rp29.31 trillion with gross profit of Rp4.63 trillion in 2018.
SecondPT Sinar Mas Multi Artha’s assets amounted to Rp100.66 trillion with gross profit of Rp1.64 trillion.
Third, Sinar Mas Land’s assets are US $ 7.75 billion or equivalent to Rp.116.36 trillion, assuming an exchange rate of Rp 15 thousand per US dollar.
Fourth, the assets of PT Bank Sinar Mas Tbk amounted to Rp37.39 trillion as of September 2019.
Fifth, the assets of PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Tbk worth US $ 8.75 billion or Rp.131.26 trillion.
Sixth, PT Paper Factory Tjiwi Kimia Tbk US $ 2.96 billion or Rp.44.47 trillion.
SeventhPT Lontar Papyrus Pulp & Paper Industry’s assets are US $ 1.99 billion or Rp29.96 trillion.
Eighth, the assets of PT Bank China Construction-Bank Indonesia Tbk amounted to Rp16.2 trillion.
Ninth, Asia Food and Properties Limited’s assets amounting to Rp80 trillion. The 10th, the assets of China Renewable Energy Investment Limited valued at 2.79 billion Hong Kong dollars or equivalent to Rp5.3 trillion, assuming an exchange rate of Rp19 thousand per Hong Kong dollar.
Tenth, the assets of PT Golden Energy Mines Tbk are US $ 780.64 million or equivalent to Rp. 11.7 trillion. 12th, Paper Excellence BV Netherlands assets of IDR 70 trillion.
In his lawsuit, Freddy stated that he and the defendants were the legal heirs of the late Eka Tjipta Widjaja. He asked the panel of judges that the inheritance be divided between himself and the defendants each half.
“Punishing the Defendant to divide inheritance according to civil law, each half of the portion, stipulating the confiscation (conservatoir Beslaag) of inheritance is legal and valuable, and punishing the Defendant for paying costs incurred in this case,” wrote Freddy’s request in the lawsuit in Central Jakarta District Court, quoted Tuesday (7/14).
Currently, the matter is still in the process of trial at PN Central Jakarta. The inaugural trial of the lawsuit was held on June 29.
CNNIndonesia.com has tried to confirm the suit with Emmy Kuswandari, Head of Media Relations at Asia Pulp & Paper. But until the news was revealed the relevant person had not responded.
Eka Tjipta is known to have died in January 2019, but his name is still included in the Forbes 2019 richest list of people. The Widjaya family who inherited Eka Tjipta’s assets were recorded to have a fortune of US $ 9.6 billion or around Rp.135.14 trillion.
