INDOSPORT.COM – Despite failing to bring Indonesia’s men’s badminton team to win the 2022 Thomas Cup, BWF still mentions: Anthony Ginting as a hero.

2022 Thomas Cup just finished the final on Sunday (15/05/22) afternoon WIB. Indonesia, which is the defending champion, lost 0-3 to India, which became the champion for the first time.

India opened the scoring through Lakshya Sen, who beat Anthony Ginting in 3 sets, followed by Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty’s victory over Mohammad Ahsan/Kevin Sanjaya also through the rubber game.

Indonesia’s hopes finally disappeared and the 2022 Thomas Cup trophy fell into the hands of India after in the third party Kidambi Srikanth defeated Jonatan Christie 21-15 23-21.

This defeat makes the team badminton Indonesian men failed to defend the title they won last year.

On the other hand, the defeat to India also raised a number of highlights, including from the living legend of Indonesian badminton, Taufik Hidayat.

The former men’s singles player thanked the team members, while highlighting a number of weaknesses including the players’ mental and physical abilities.

Not only that, Taufik Hidayat also gave special attention to the Indonesian men’s singles coach.

“Team thomas cup.. thank you for getting to the final.. surely they are disappointed with this defeat, but there is one note that is always….MENTAL, PHYSICAL, AND which is the Indonesian men’s singles coach?” wrote Taufik.

“Doesn’t Indonesia have a better and more qualified coach? How long do you want this PBSI?????????” continued the 2004 Athens Olympic gold winner.
