Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marco Fernaldi Gedeone take on Japanese doubles Akira Koga / Taichi Saito in the first round at Jyske Bank Arena, Wednesday (10/19/2022) WIB night. The Minions started well, taking the first four points that laid the foundation for the first game.
The lead was maintained, to close the range 11-6. The Japanese duo were able to close the gap when they won three points bringing the score to 12-14, which was then silenced by Kevin / Marcus so that the distance was widened to six points.

In the game points position for Kevin / Marcus 20-14, the Japanese double tries to catch up. However, they were only able to win three points from the Indonesian pair. The Minions completed the first game 21-17 in 15 minutes.
Koga / Saito started the second game by winning the first two points. Kevin / Marcus responded by taking three points, then another three points to reverse the position to 6-3.
The Japanese couple tried to stay and keep the difference by just one point. Until then the Minions have gained momentum just before half-time, opening the three-point gap at 10-7.
After the restart, Kevin / Marcus raced and won 13-8. The second seeded men’s doubles with full control finished the second game 21-15 in 39 minutes.
In the second round, the Minions will face Scottish men’s doubles Alexander Dunn / Adam Hall. The unseeded duo qualified after a three-game battle against Japanese doubles Keiichiro Matsui / Yoshinori Takeuchi 21-14, 15-21 and 21-18.
In the previous match, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri / Bagas Maulana’s men’s doubles also qualified for the second round. Fikri / Bagas overtook the Malaysian pair Man Wei Chong / Kai Wun Tee 22-20 and 21-15.
They will then wait for the seventh seeded double Indian, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy / Chirag Shetty.
