Denmark could leave FIFA

FIFA’s ban on the wearing of the captain’s armband that says “One Love” has caused a backlash in many national teams. German national team protested yesterday before the match against Japan.

But Denmark seems ready to go further in its protest. The head of the local football federation, Jesper Meller, does not even rule out leaving FIFA:

“This decision has not been made now. We understood everything for a long time. We have been discussing this in Scandinavia since August.

Now we have reconsidered. I assume there could be problems if Denmark goes on its own. It is necessary to think about the question of how to restore confidence in FIFA. We need to evaluate what happened and form a strategy together with our Scandinavian colleagues.”
