Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) Cases in Jakarta Reach All-Time High in 2023

Jakarta Health Office (Dinkes). recorded 2,559 cases dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) during the period January-June 2023. January is the month with the highest number of dengue cases.

“Reporting DKI Jakarta DHF data as of June 26 2023. January 525 cases, February 434, March 494, April 499, May 445, and June 162 cases. A total of 2,559 cases,” said the Head of the Surveillance, Epidemiology and Immunization Section of the Provincial Health Office DKI Jakarta, Ngabila Salama, told journalists, Monday (3/7/2023).

Ngabila revealed that East Jakarta is the area with the highest number of dengue cases. Meanwhile, the Thousand Islands is the area with the least number of dengue cases.

“Central Jakarta 232, North Jakarta 521, West Jakarta 625, South Jakarta 540, East Jakarta 640, Seribu Island 1,” he said.

Ngabila said that DHF is an endemic disease that continues to exist and survive in Jakarta. He reminded the public to maintain a clean lifestyle.

“Efforts to control infectious diseases are carried out by preventing illness and preventing seriousness or death. Prevent illness by adopting a clean and healthy lifestyle, especially DHF by keeping the environment clean such as eradicating mosquito nests or PSN 3M plus,” he explained.

Ngabila appealed to people who have symptoms to immediately go to the hospital. He said early treatment was necessary to prevent death.

“Currently, to prevent illness, vaccinations are also available for children and adults, which can be given twice and the information can reduce the risk of getting sick, both outpatient and inpatient, by up to 90-95 percent,” he explained.

“The brand of the vaccine belongs to the Takeda company. Where the recommendation for giving this vaccine has been legalized in the recommendation of the immunization task force, PAPDI and IDAI in 2023,” he continued.

Furthermore, Ngabila also warned hospitals to frequently report DHF cases fogging. In addition, people are asked to diligently spray the house.
