Democratic party criticize the President’s move Joko Widodo dissolve the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling Covid-19 then replaced it with the Covid-19 Handling Policy Committee and the National Economic Recovery.
Deputy Party Secretary General (Wasekjen) of the Democratic Party DPP Irwan said Jokowi appeared to be in a hurry to dismiss the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling Covid-19.
According to him, Jokowi was inconsistent with regard to the dissolution of the team led by the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Doni Monardo. If Jokowi is consistent, the dissolution should be carried out after the spread of the corona virus in Indonesia has passed its peak as predicted in September 2020.
“It is not right to disband the Task Force for the Acceleration of Co-19 Handling. If Jokowi is consistent, he is of the same opinion that the pandemic ends in September, after that it should be disbanded,” Irwan told CNNIndonesia.com, Tuesday (7/21).
He explained, Democrats gave a special note to Jokowi regarding the dissolution of the Task Force for the Co-19 Handling Acceleration Task Force. That is, the government must prioritize the safety of the community over the recovery of the national economy amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
“This is a special note for Jokowi to be careful here because the safety of the people is the main despite his choice, however the economy must be immediately restored from Covid-19,” said the member of the Indonesian Parliament.
Jokowi is known to disperse the Covid-19 Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling. This dissolution is contained in Presidential Regulation No. 82 of 2020 concerning the Covid-19 Handling Committee and National Economic Recovery. The liquidation is valid as of July 20, 2020 or since Perpres No. 82 of 2020 promulgated or signed Jokowi.
Article 20 of the Perpres states that it revokes Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 7 of 2020 as amended in Presidential Decree Number 9 of 2020 concerning the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling Covid-19.
Jokowi then formed the Covid-19 Handling Committee and the National Economic Recovery. The committee is chaired by Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto.
While SOE Minister Erick Thohir became the Chief Chairperson who coordinated between the Covid-19 Handling Task Force led by Doni Monardo and the National Economic Recovery Task Force led by SOE Vice Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin.
