Governor West Java Ridwan Kamil open a voice about the demonstration against the imposition of restrictions on community activities (PPKM) emergency in the city of Bandung this Wednesday (21/7). Emil, his nickname, asked residents to be patient because there would be relaxation of the policy.
Relaxation will mainly be carried out on community activities and economic activities.
“We are monitoring the upheaval against PPKM. Because I have said that the reason is social assistance, the central government has prepared Rp30 trillion for social assistance from various doors,” he said in an online press conference, Wednesday (21/7).
The former mayor of Bandung hopes that residents will be patient because in time there will be relaxation for areas that have succeeded in controlling Covid-19 cases.
“Please be patient, there will be proportional PPKM, there will be relaxation for the controlling regions, hopefully everyone can participate,” he said.
Emil said that social assistance from districts/cities was being prepared. No exception for social assistance from the province. Social assistance will target people who are categorized as new poor or not formally recorded in the Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS).
“Then also social assistance from the central government has also started to disburse yesterday,” he said.
In addition to the demonstration against PPKM, Emil also highlighted the street vendors who started waving white flags as a sign of being overwhelmed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Many traders wave white flags. I think 64 percent of West Java residents will becover by formal social assistance. Up from the central government, which was originally 40 percent, now it’s 60 percent,” he said.
Hundreds of people held demonstrations against the implementation of emergency PPKM in Bandung City on Wednesday (21/7).
In the action that took place in front of the Bandung City Hall, they assessed that the implementation of PPKM carried out from the center to the regions had no impact on controlling Covid-19.
On the other hand, they think that the policy is actually making people miserable.
