Demi Lovato returns to YouTube with a new docu-series

YouTube announced new projects, and others returning to the platform, during the ninth annual edition of newfronts, which for the first time was carried out in a digital and personalized way, called Brandcast Delivered. Among the highlights: a new four-part docuserie that follows Demi Lovato as she continues her personal and musical journey; and updates to the popular YouTube Originals series “Instant Influencer with James Charles”, “The Creator Games Presented by MrBeast”, “A Heist With Markiplier” and “Retro Tech”.

These are the new YouTube Originals:

Untitled project by Demi Lovato

YouTube partnered with Demi Lovato for a four-part documentary series, continuation of the 2017 YouTube Originals documentary, “Simply Complicated.” The series will follow Lovato’s return to show fans her personal and musical journey over the past three years. More information will be shared soon. This project is directed by Michael D. Ratner and produced by OBB Pictures.

Instant Influencer with James Charles

After the first season, which reached more than 53 million views in its first month alone, YouTube approved a second season of “Instant Influencer with James Charles”. In the first season, from the first series of a beauty pageant on YouTube, the contestants exhibited their best makeup art for the presenter, James Charles, and a combination of celebrity guest judges and veterans of the beauty industry, including Norvina, Paris Hilton and Trixie Mattel. The series is produced by Brian Graden Media.

The Creator Games Presented by MrBeast

After being one of the most watched live YouTube Originals events to date, the platform has given the green light to a second installment of “The Creator Games Presented by MrBeast”. This virtual live broadcast, the first of its kind, featured 32 of YouTube’s top creators, including iJustine, Marques Brownlee, Juanpa Zurita, and Jack Black. Hosted by MrBeast (37 million subscribers), the initial stone, paper or scissors tournament raised over $ 1 million for COVID-19 related charities. “The Creator Games Presented by MrBeast” is produced by Night Media and Fly on the Wall Productions.

Untitled Markiplier Project

YouTube Originals has commissioned another interactive special with YouTube creator Markiplier (26 million subscribers). The new project will come after the highly successful interactive “A Heist With Markiplier” special, which allowed viewers to control the life and death decisions of their favorite YouTube players in a classic museum heist, which currently has more than 18 million views. . The interactive film is produced by Markiplier and Rooster Teeth Studios. Executive producers include Mark Fischbach, Matt Hullum, Burnie Burns, and Ryan P. Hall.

Retro Tech

YouTube Originals commissioned a second season of the Emmy-nominated series, Retro Tech starring YouTube creator Marques Brownlee (11.4 million subscribers). Each episode of the first season showed Marques examining a different nostalgic product and how each product defined pop culture and changed the world as we know it. In the second season, Marques will explore the technological promises of the past. Futurists predicted that today’s technology would surround us with flying cars, cleaning robots, and teleportation. While some of these predictions are still science fiction, others like mobile video calls, virtual reality, and even AI, and quantum computers are fast becoming part of daily life. Marques will unravel these retro technology promises to see how close we are to 2020 and the direction that technology will take. Retro Tech is an executive production by Nick Budabin, Marty Moe, and Chad Mumm for Vox Media Studios. Rachael Knudsen, Mark W. Olsen, and Dana J. Olkkonen are co-executive producers for Vox Media Studios.

These announcements follow in the footsteps of several recent YouTube Originals projects, including “Bear Witness, Take Action”, a conversation aimed at uniting and inspiring the platform’s global community to act for racial justice organized by Common and Keke Palmer featuring 50 YouTube creators, public figures and activists; as well as “Dear Class of 2020”, a tribute to the graduating generation this year that focused on the timely themes of hope, resilience, and camaraderie, with inspiring speeches by Barack and Michelle Obama, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Lady Gaga, BTS, Liza Koshy, and many more. Upcoming YouTube Originals include the third season of “Liza on Demand”, starring Liza Koshy, “This is Paris”, a documentary revealing the hidden past of international icon Paris Hilton, and a special live event with death-defying wizard David Blaine.
