Delta reconnects New York and Atlanta with Spain

Delta Airlines has announced that this September it will resume flights Madrid – New York and Barcelona – New York. For next summer it hopes to also resume flights between the two Spanish cities and Atlanta.

On the other hand, the airline continues to reinforce security and flexibility measures. For example, blocking all center seats and limiting the number of customers per flight until January 6, 2021.
In addition, it will operate its routes with a more efficient and improved fleet of refurbished Airbus A350-900, A330-900neos and Boeing 767s, following the retirement of its Boeing 777 aircraft at the end of October 2020.

On the other hand, it has extended its exchange rate exemption for new flights purchased until September 30, 2020.
Delta’s intention is to resume the Atlantic and Pacific routes in the coming months.

Transpacific program

Delta maintains its global presence and investment in Seattle (SEA) over the next year, which continues to be one of the main gateways for travel to Asia. The continuation of daily service next year from Sea-Tac to Tokyo-Haneda (HND), Seoul-Incheon (ICN), Beijing (BJS) and Shanghai (PVG) will allow customers to connect more within the region through the Delta, Korean Air and China Eastern partners.

On the other hand, starting in April 2021, Delta plans to return to service between Minneapolis (MSP) and Seoul-Incheon.

By the summer of 2021, it will offer services from seven cities in the United States to Haneda (Tokyo) and currently already offers up to 14 weekly flights through its gateways in Atlanta, Detroit, Los Angeles (LAX) and Seattle.

Between the US and China, Delta is working closely with the governments of both countries to increase service in response to high demand. Delta currently operates four weekly flights to Shanghai (PVG) from Detroit and Seattle. Subject to approval, the airline plans to increase service between these destinations. In the summer of 2021, Delta expects to operate daily service between Shanghai and Detroit, Seattle and Los Angeles, as well as daily service connecting Sea-Tac to the new Daxing airport in Beijing, subject to government approval.

In Australia, Delta plans to maintain a minimum of three services a week between Los Angeles and Sydney (SYD) before resuming daily service in 2021.

Transatlantic Program

In addition to Madrid and Barcelona, between September and October, the airline will resume service between New York and Rome, Brussels, Dublin, Frankfurt and Zurich. It will also connect Boston with London Heathrow and Seattle with Paris (CDG). Service between Boston and Paris will return in November. Following this fall service resumption, Delta expects to maintain a similar program in the Atlantic in winter 2021.

By next summer, Delta will expand its flights between the US and Europe, offering daily nonstop service to Amsterdam (AMS), Paris and London-Heathrow from Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, New York-JFK and Minneapolis. From Seattle and Salt Lake City, customers will have daily nonstop access to Amsterdam and Paris. Delta’s hub at LAX will offer nonstop service to Paris. This expansion also marks the restart of transatlantic service to Los Angeles, Minneapolis and Salt Lake City.

Additionally, Delta will add a return service to Paris from Cincinnati (CVG) and Raleigh-Durham (RDU), as well as a service to Amsterdam from Portland (PDX).
From AMS, CDG or LHR, customers will have access to more than 160 destinations throughout the region through partner companies Virgin Atlantic and Air France-KLM.
