Delhaize no longer sells plastic bags at the till | Consumer

According to Delhaize, too many plastic bags are still bought at the checkout, which is not sustainable. It is therefore better for customers to bring a reusable bag with them. Delhaize will also sell new recyclable paper bags at the checkout, at 25 cents per bag.

Delhaize is not the first supermarket chain to ban plastic bags. Carrefour, among others, has already stopped selling it. Since the end of 2019, retailers are no longer allowed to give free plastic bags to their customers at the checkout.
