[아시아경제 양낙규 군사전문기자]As actor Lee Young-ae (50) paid 5 million won in political support to opposition lawmakers belonging to the National Assembly’s Defense Committee, the claim was raised as “inappropriate sponsorship from stakeholders.”

Lee’s husband, Jeong Ho-young (70), is known as the owner of H Company, a mid-sized defense industry. Company H is a company that develops and produces military equipment such as radar special electronic communication equipment.

In the last year’s’list of donors exceeding 3 million won’ released by the Central Election Commission on the 25th, Lee also sponsored 5 million won each to Democratic Party Rep. Kim Byeong-ju and People’s Power Rep. Han Ki-ho and Shin Won-sik. This is the highest amount under the Political Fund Act.

These lawmakers who were helped by Mr. Lee have a common point that they were former military generals and currently belong to the National Defense Council.

Rep. Kim served as the deputy commander of the ROK-US Combined Forces Command as a reserve army commander, and Han and Shin were also lieutenant generals of the army respectively.

The problem is that Jeong has been known to have been involved in military abduction for a long time. The military contractor’s wife was in the form of a large donation to the defense committee members. In particular, it is pointed out that it is highly misleading in that the National Defense Agency has the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, which oversees the government’s weapons development and purchase decisions, as its competent audit organization.

In 2000, Chung was arrested for donating 50 million won to former Democratic Party member Cheon Yong-taek, who was the chairman of the National Assembly’s defense committee, in exchange for the convenience of military payments. In addition to former lawmaker Chun, it was known that several former and current military generals were involved.
