“I’ve never traveled so much in my life! Brazil is also a big country, and we moved around a lot, but the flights there did not exceed one to one and a half hours. Here, due to the closure of the airport in Krasnodar, we have to make long journeys. It’s very hard. For understanding, my personal example. A trip to the Paraguay national team now takes me at least 35 hours, and maybe up to 40. And this is only one way! I won’t lie, I already feel tired physically and mentally.

Count the flights: Asuncion – Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo – Dubai, Dubai – Moscow, Moscow – Kaliningrad. In total, I spent 34-35 hours on the road. It turns out that I left Paraguay on Wednesday and joined the team on Friday. On Saturday we had a game with Baltika away, and on Sunday we had an 11-hour drive to Krasnodar. Naturally, this is very difficult. This is starting to stress me out a little. The stress level is increasing, although I didn’t notice this before,” Alonso said.

The 30-year-old Paraguayan also admitted that he was experiencing great psychological difficulties while being away from his family. Last spring, the Krasnodar defender publicly expressed his desire to leave the club, as his son was born in May.

“Yes, we talked to the family, but two problems have not gone away. Firstly, they cannot be with me due to the fact that planes do not fly to Krasnodar. But there is no international school in the city where my two sons could go. Therefore, the family remains in Paraguay. I won’t lie, this is a difficult situation for me psychologically. Some people calmly perceive separation from family, but it’s hard for me,” said Alonso.

Junior Alonso moved to Krasnodar in January 2022 from Atlético Mineiro for 8 million euros. In March 2022, Alonso returned to the Brazilian club on loan until the end of the year. He made his debut for Krasnodar in February 2023 and played 40 matches for the team, in which he scored one goal and made one assist.
