Decrease in new infections in Aruba

Oranjestad – In Aruba, testing of people with Covid complaints continues. Another 357 people have been tested, 70 infections have emerged. 31 people have now recovered from their complaints. A seventh person has died.

The total number of active infections comes to 1,081. 30 people have been admitted to the hospital, five of which are in intensive care.

The opening of schools has been postponed for a while to prevent high numbers of people on the street. People who live in one house with an infected person must adhere to the rules of mandatory quarantine. Once a person in the household is tested positive, the whole family goes into a mandatory seven-day quarantine. At the first suspicion of symptoms, the doctor should be called to have a test.

There will be no curfew or lockdown in Aruba yet. Although still high, contamination rates per day are lower than two weeks ago. The third floor of the HOH hospital is a Covid ward to prevent patients from infecting others. The maximum capacity for ic beds is now 33. This is enough for now but can be scaled up if necessary. There is a plan for this.
