Deck 13: Focus Home takes over The Surge developer

Deck 13 Interactive is no longer on its own two feet. The French publisher Focus Home Interactive has now taken over the Frankfurt studio completely after a long collaboration.

The Frankfurt studio Deck 13 has made a name for itself through various adventures in the past, before it went to soul-like titles like Lords of the Fallen or the two parts of The Surge, which were also published by Focus Home at the time. The collaboration between Studio and Publisher has been running since 2011.

The studio with its 60 employees should be fully preserved, and nothing changes at the management level either. The Deck 13 Spotlight label, which was used by the Frankfurt indie titles as publisher, is also to be retained and Focus will provide additional coverage. The area is to be expanded further.

It remains to be seen what effects the deal will have in the long term. Due to the long collaboration and the similarities in the portfolio (Focus has published some role-playing games and the like, in addition to the Deck 13 titles also titles such as Vampyr, Greedfall and the highly acclaimed A Plague’s Tale: Innocence) it could be a very fruitful cooperation.
