SURABAYA, KOMPAS.com – After the naturalization process for Indonesian citizens (WNI) was completed some time ago, Ivar Jenner had the opportunity to make his debut match with the Indonesian national team at the FIFA Matchday event.
His name is included in the 26 names of players summoned by the coach of the Indonesian national team, Shin Tae-yong, to compete in the FIFA Matchday against Palestine on 14 June 2023 and Argentina on 19 June 2023.
The match against Palestine at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (GBT), Surabaya, will likely be the first match wearing a costume with the Garuda logo.
Ivar Jenner admits that he is happy and comfortable at this time joining the Indonesian national team squad.

“I feel good, this is the first time I have joined here (the national team). My first impression here was very good and I met my new team,” said the 19-year-old player.
“I hope to get the opportunity to compete against Palestine and Argentina,” he said.
He became one of two naturalized players who immediately received Shin Tae-yong’s call to strengthen the Indonesian national team.
Apart from that, there is the name Rafael Struick who was also called up to defend the Indonesian national team.
Not only comfortable with the Indonesian national team squad, Ivar Jenner admits that there are no problems with adaptation because he has communicated with two of his teammates who are also alumni of the Dutch club, FC Utrecht.

The two players were Marc Klok and Stefano Lilipaly who told them a lot about Indonesian football.
As is well known, the three players were both educated by the FC Utrecht academy, namely Jong Utrecht, even though they are of different generations.
Of the two players, he felt there were no significant obstacles to adapting to the atmosphere in the Indonesian national team squad.
“Two days ago I met him for the first time also with Marc Klok. He also plays for Jong Utrecht just like me,” said Ivar Jenner.
“So I can have a dialogue about it with them, it’s very good for us to know each other,” he said.
