Death threats rained down on Alvaro Morata, who shook the net in the regular time but was unsuccessful in penalty shootouts in Spain, which lost to Italy on penalties in the semi-finals of EURO 2020.
The Italian model wife of the star striker, Alice Campello, shared abusive and hateful messages from Italians.
Campello said, “This is a great ignorance. If someone weaker than me had received these messages, he would probably have had a big problem. Remember that sport is something that brings people together. I hope it will be easier to take action against these people in the future.”
Morata and Campello married in 2017 and have 3 children.
