Dear Esther creators bring colorful Little Orpheus to consoles and PC

Developer The Chinese Room, also known for the indie hits Dear Esther and Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, has announced this. The game was released in 2020 for Apple Arcade and is set to release on March 1 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, NIntendo Switch, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.

Little Orpheus was well received by players at launch. The game is set in the 1960s. While humanity tries to get a man on the moon, Ivan Ivanovich dives with an exploration pod – the Little Orpheus – via a volcano towards the core of the earth. Three years later, he returns and claims to have saved the Earth. The game tells what happened to Ivanovich in the meantime.

This results in a colorful sidescroller inspired by classic films such as Flash Gordon and The Land that Time Forgot. The game features platform elements and accessible puzzles, as well as a soundtrack by BAFTA winner Jessica Curry and Jim Fowler. The console and PC version includes the additional bonus episode A Rush of Onion to the Head. You can watch a new trailer below.
