Warning: contains spoilers for Deadpool # 9!

Amalo o ódialo, dead Pool He’s a tough guy to get rid of, and that’s not just because of his massive popularity with fans. Wade Wilson’s Healing Factor helps you recover from the worst injuries imaginable. It’s been split in half, shattered, and even vaporized by a single hit, but it always manages to walk away (or, in many cases, get swept away) from a fight. Although these feats are incredible, there is still an even more impressive aspect of Deadpool’s regenerative abilities that fans sometimes forget.

Since he’s no longer a fatal problem, Deadpool’s relentless cancer can easily be forgotten in the midst of his insane adventures. Deadpool exploits himself

As Deadpool fights the monsters at the beginning of the ninth issue, the hero who breaks the fourth wall decides to sum up the situation. While informing readers about what is happening, he says, “Because Bloodstone is infected, I am now dying. I mean, I’m always dying, that’s fair, but there’s definitely more… urgency now. While it is only a small moment, it is a reminder of a dark truth about the hero: his healing factor has not “cured” his cancer, it is only keeping it at bay, meaning that Wade is in a constant cycle of degeneration and body regeneration.

When considering all the grotesque injuries Wade Wilson has survived over the years, it’s easy to forget that his cancer is always killing his cells, just for his healing factor to fix them. It’s a vicious cycle that could drive anyone crazy and it certainly takes its toll on Deadpool. This is especially impressive given what Wade’s regenerative powers can do in addition to this constant healing; he ends the problem like a decapitated head, knowing that his healing factor will regenerate his body, all while pushing back the cancer. A tragic figure at best, Deadpool’s incredible healing factor means that not only can he withstand immense damage, but he’s also dying and healing 24/7. Even in its quietest moments, dead Pool he’s in a constant state of regeneration, and it’s not like Wade has that many quiet moments to begin with.
