A resident was killed in a gas explosion in an apartment building in the Russian city of Orechovo-Zuyevo, not far from Moscow. At least four others were injured. Rescue services were able to get them out of the rubble.
The blow knocked part of the facade out of the complex. A number of floors have collapsed. Most of the building with eighty houses is undamaged.
About 200 residents have been taken care of elsewhere. Many people were at home; in the Moscow region, people are only allowed to leave their home under strict conditions because of corona.
Whether the explosion was an accident or intent is still unclear. Many Russian residential complexes suffer from overdue maintenance and the gas pipes do not always meet safety requirements.
