De-selection procedure – Frankfurt city parliament votes to de-select Mayor Feldmann

The necessary two-thirds majority for the deselection was achieved in the town hall. Feldmann’s own SPD party also supported the motion. The mayor initially did not accept the deselection. He now has one week to accept the application. Otherwise, a referendum will take place at the beginning of November. At least 30 percent of those entitled to vote are required to vote out of office.

Although Feldmann has announced his resignation, he intends to remain in office until the end of January next year. In October, the Lord Mayor of Frankfurt has to answer in court. The public prosecutor accuses him of taking advantage in office.
